How to stop light coming in at the sides of blinds

How to stop light coming in at the sides of blinds

Now that the mornings are getting lighter, I’m reminded of my personal experience of the frustration caused by children waking up earlier than they used to during the darker winter months.

In an attempt to make sure their normal sleep patterns weren’t disturbed by the ever earlier sun rise as the much-welcomed Spring progressed, I had black out blinds fitted. I wanted to make sure that every last drop of daylight was excluded until I chose to open the blinds and let the sunshine stream into the room, so I opted for custom-made blinds.

You can imagine my disappointment when the morning after the blinds were fitted they hadn’t made a blind bit of difference (pardon the pun!) to the time that my little ones were woken by light coming in at the sides of the blinds. It was only then that I realised that even made to measure blinds still have a gap at the sides and allow light to come in at the sides.

Immediately, I began to search for a product that would eliminate the light that could still enter the children’s rooms. But I couldn’t find anything and that’s when BlindSides were born. First of all I made my own Heath Robinson version which soon progressed to the product that we sell today. So when sleep deprived parents ask how to stop the light coming in at the sides of blinds I really do understand!
